THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
We would like to say THANK YOU to all of our family, friends and supporters who came from far and near on Saturday November 7th, 2015 to help us celebrate 50 years of music ministry. You took time out of your busy schedules, paid for plane, train and bus tickets and some traveled for hours just to come share with us. You have no idea how much that means to us. We love you and pray that you were blessed. To our Pastor Bishop Basil McPherson, Sr., our 1st Lady and Business Manager Tracey McPherson and our church family of Bushwick Family Ministries, we love and appreciate you. To our Ushers, Sound Crew, Youth Department and our local 83rd Police Precinct, thank you for everything you did to make our day so special. To our Special Guests - Sis. Sharon and friends from Christian Cultural Center, you blessed us and ushered us into worship of the true and living God and we love you. To our soloist Sis. To all of our Slamming Sopranos, Amazing Altos and Super Tenors, and especially to our choir members who traveled from near and far to participate in the reunion choir, man oh man, all the hard work and rehearsals paid off. God got the glory and people were blessed and touched by your ministry. Last and not least, to our directors, Sis. Adilah Francis you are a gift to us and we love you. Thank you for sacrificing your time and talent to help us perfect the gift that God has given us., To the incomparable Sis. Maureen Ien, there is only 1 you and we are so glad that God gave you to us. For more than 40 years you have perfected and made the sound and presentation that people have come to know us by just using one word... "Bushwick"...and we love you more than words can say. To our own Bro. Kevin E. Ien God bless you for everything that you do for us. We love you!!! We are looking forward to many more years of memorable and life changing music ministry with you. Keep letting God lead you and you lead us forward! We pray that all of our guests were blessed as we only do this for an audience of 1 and His name is Jesus Christ.
Pics From Our Re-Union Choir 50th Anniversary!!!
The Bushwick Mass Choir formerly known as the Young Adult Choir originated around 1961 under the direction of Minister Janet Napper (deceased) and Pastor John C. Newkirk at The Church of God of Prophecy located at St. James Place in Brooklyn, NY. It was a choir of young people who came together and blended their voices to uplift and praise Jesus Christ through song, what a joy. After years of ministering in song, Minister Verona M. Rogers took over directorship and the choir grew in membership and began to minister outside the walls of the local church. In 1967, Sis. Maureen Ien took over as the choir director, and after a mixed age group began to join the choir, the name was formally changed to the Bushwick Mass Choir. The choir began to travel throughout the state of New York, singing at many programs, and at our local State Conventions, in many states such as North Carolina and Virginia, and even as far away as Canada. The choir’s greatest blessing was to be the first choir of New York to sing for many years at the church’s International General Assembly in Cleveland, TN. It was a blessing to the choir when many people asked what day the choir was singing on the program and what time.
The choir began to have their annual celebration known as the choir anniversary, which drew hundreds across the Tri-State area and even from other states to join in on a time of worship and praise for God’s blessings. The anniversaries would regularly fill the church to capacity, so that many times there was standing room only, sometimes with over 20 choirs coming to help celebrate another year of successful music ministry. A special thank you goes out to Sis. Collie Hood, who was such a blessing when she took over directorship from Sis. Ien, for a short period of time.
It is a new day, and now Minister Kevin Ien and Sis. Adilah Francis has taken over directorship for the past few years and on Saturday – November 7, 2015 @ 6 PM, the choir will go down memory lane with Sis. Ien, Minister Rogers, Minister Kevin as well as both former and present choir members as we commemorate 50 years of music ministry with a Reunion Anniversary of the choir. This will be a great time of celebration as we worship Jesus Christ who has brought us this far by faith.
Come worship with us as the choir sings such memorable classics as “Joy Like a River”, “I Love the Lord”, “Call Him Up” and the timeless classic and choir staple song “My Hope”.
Again, bring your family and friends and come join us in this time of great celebration as we thank God for his blessings at our 50th Reunion Anniversary. You don’t want to miss it!

"No Sunday morning, Anniversary or revival would be complete without this man, his fingers and God's anointing on his life. It would be an understatement to say he is talented or gifted. He is called and ordained to Minister the gospel through music. My first piano teacher and dear friend Kenneth Thurston. Humble and full of integrity". - Shonta Ford
"What excellence, what humility, what dedication, to the service of God & His people. We're talking 50+ years! I've learned so much from him; especially, when he wasn't lookin. He is definitely blessed, highly favored & flavored!
Thank you, Bro. K". - Alan George

"If you never got to meet her, let alone hear her sing; you missed something really special and anointed. I can still hear her voice in my head, "I am so grateful", "walk around heaven all day" or "it's. In my heart". Her voice was thundering but her personality was gentle as lamb Barbara Bird. Gone too soon". - Shonta Ford
"I love all her songs but my favorite was I am so grateful! Sis. Barbara Bird was our Mahaila Jackson during those days! smile emoticon". - Lisa Smith
